LAME for Audacity (Audio & Multimedia - Other)

LAME is an encoding library for creating MP3 files from applications like Audacity. You download the files to your computer and then tell Audacity where to find them on your computer so that it can create MP3s. In some countries, MP3 encoding requires a licensing fee to use LAME legally.
