Young lovers, Neil and Madeline, are invited to marry on Beaumont's Haitian plantation so Beaumont can attempt to steal Madeline for himself. With the aid of devious mill owner Legendre, Beaumont administers a potion to Madeline turning her into a zombie he can control. The now passionless Madeline isn't what Beaumont was looking for and he begs to have her returned to her former state. Instead, Legendre turns Beaumont into a zombie too. Jilted lover Neil, convinced Madeline is still alive and well, seeks her out to save her. Bela Lugosi is at his sinister best as Legendre, making White Zombie a worthy addition to any classic horror fan collection.

Crazed scientist Dr. Cameron lashes out at his detractors by inventing a serum to turn a man into a wolf. Cameron's gardner, Petro is used as the serum's test case, sending the man-made monster on a deadly rampage. Cameron's daughter Lenora grows suspicious of the killings and confides with a local newspaper reporter to try and bring the spree of terror to an end. While this is definitely a low budget variation on the early Lon Cheney werewolf tales, it's entertaining in its own right. Without his wolf costume from this picture, Glenn Strange may be recognized as playing bartender Sam Noonan in Gunsmoke.
